Gazprom Neft expands KRG presence with Halabja block

The Russian state-owned oil giant has concluded another deal with Kurdistan - this one involving the Halabja block, which borders Iran.

ERBIL - Russian state-owned oil giant Gazprom Neft has signed at least one more contract with Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdistan region to explore for oil and gas, despite objections from Baghdad.

Multiple sources close to the Kurdish oil sector have confirmed that the deal involves the Halabja block, on the border with Iran.
