There has been a gradual increase in levels of violence in Iraq since February. International risk mitigation company AKE documented at least 745 attacks between April and June with an average of eight incidents per day. This compares to just over 520 attacks between January and March, when there was an average of around six incidents per day.

AKE also recorded at least 783 fatalities, at an average of 58 per week between April and June, up from 724 fatalities at an average of 56 per week between January and March.
