Iraq production shoots up in June

An independent analysis shows rising output from state-run fields in Basra lifted Iraqi production by nearly 100,000 bpd, as a monitoring committee meets and assesses OPEC quota compliance.

Oil Minister Jabbar al-Luiebi has consistently said he intends to achieve a production capacity of 5 million bpd by the end of this year, and Iraq appears to be well on its way.

Oil production jumped by nearly 100,000 barrels per day (bpd) - from 4.573 million bpd in May to 4.671 million bpd in June - according to an Iraq Oil Report analysis of production data from each of the country's oil fields.*
