BAGHDAD - The lawsuit filed in federal court challenging Baghdad's first long-term foreign oil contract offers a glimpse into a court system that may be forced set a precedent for validating Iraq's oil policies.

The Rumaila oilfield contract, signed with BP and the Chinese National Petroleum Corp. in November, has been challenged by Member of Parliament Sheda Musawi on four counts alleging the deal violates Iraqi law and the Constitution.
