Iraqi Cabinet decisions: April 5, 2016

The Council of Ministers discussed in its session held today, 5th of April, 2016, headed by the prime minister, Dr. Haider al-Abadi, the implementation mechanism of loan and investment projects. The council decided the agriculture summer plan and instructed to secure the irrigation of 150,000 acres of rice fields, in addition to other issues of the session that was set to be discussed.

The Council of Ministers confirmed following up the journalistic reports, which were published by Fairfax Media and Huffington Post, which indicated doubts regarding the involvement of Iraqi officials in corrupted deals and bribes related to oil contracts during the terms of former governments, and it is necessary to stand at the details and investigate the matter according to the law, confirming the start of the investigation according to the instruction which the prime minister had addressed the integrity commission by to take the legal actions, as well as urging the judiciary to prepare immediate follow up regarding the details that were revealed in the report, in addition to an order issued by the prime minister to form a ministerial committee to investigate the published report. The council also instructed to address the international sides to provide Iraq all the evidence in their possession at the request of the Higher Education Minister Hussain al-Shahristani.
