Iraqi Parliament starts oil corruption investigation

MPs begin looking into alleged bribery scheme following international media reports implicating former oil ministers.

BAGHDAD - Iraq's Parliament will begin investigating allegations of bribery within the country's oil sector following an order by Speaker Salim al-Jabouri late last week.

Jabouri tasked 14 parliamentarians from six parties "to investigate the media reports that indicate corruption accusations against high officials in the Oil Ministry," according to the Nov. 3 order, which was obtained by Iraq Oil Report.
