Q&A: Lt. Gen. Mohammed al-Askari, senior Defense Ministry advisor

BAGHDAD - On Tuesday, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced that Iraqi forces, after three months of urban combat, have "fully liberated" the eastern half of Mosul from the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) militant group.

Planning and redeployments are now underway to re-take the western half of the city and free the estimated 750,000 civilians trapped there.
