SOC takes Oxy stake in Zubair

South Oil Company takes the largest role to date for a state owned company in a technical service contract after Occidental Petroleum's exit.

Occidental Petroleum has officially left the Zubair oil field contract it won in a 2009 bidding round, and Iraq's South Oil Company (SOC) is taking its place.

The Oil Ministry announced the moves in a statement Thursday. Occidental began its exit last year.
