Mines are “biggest environmental problem”

Iraqi Environment Minister Narmin Othman has appealed for more international support to clear the country of landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO).

“It is impossible to depend on the government. We need international support to bring in qualified specialists and we need financial support, as the government’s budget can’t cover the expense,” Othman told the United Nations Humanitarian Office.
