Wasit leaders defy Oil Ministry in armed standoff at Ahdab

AHDAB OIL FIELD, IRAQ - Iraqi forces drew weapons on one another as a dispute involving the Wasit provincial council and the Oil Ministry in Baghdad threatened to turn violent.
On Sunday, a delegation from the provincial council traveled here and demanded to be given documents from the Waha Company, the Iraqi subsidiary of the Chinese National Petroleum Corp., which was awarded the field development in 2008 after renegotiating a Saddam Hussein-era contract.
