Thank you, Hiwa Osman, for this superb analysis of the state of Kurdish journalism. It is a must read for all Kurdish people. There may well be too many working in Kurdish media that do not understand the basic principles of journalism, but there is at least one that can show them the way. That's a cause for hope. Thank you again, dear Hiwa.

As for the comment from Serdar, it seems the commenter would have us believe that the media organisations owned and run by the leader of the opposition Change Party are independent of the party's program. It's a truly farcical conclusion if not completely delusional.

'''Hiwa Osman previously served as Iraqi president Jalal Talabani’s media adviser. The views expressed in this article are not necessarily the views of IWPR or Iraq Oil Report.

''

This man's OPINION is a FARCE, he is himself onesided and have no place to argue in his simple mindede world with his simple words about what the media should be like. He compares newspapers and media outlets as all kind of imilar and the opposite but tht is factually non-sense. There are INDEPENDENT indeed newspapers who report what happens on the ground but the fact that there is a verey high level of corruption and there is not enough place even in the large newspaers to cover all the corrupt officials and security people speak volumes.

To say that all the non party news otlets and journalists are opposition people or side with them is loughable by all means. You cannot orgainse such thing like a party does with its media groupos to be vocal and support its side;how can all these news papers and and journalists come together and be oppositins???

The problem is that there is not enough brave people to tell more truths on the ground, the PUK and PDK run by family tribal clans with theire familes have wrecked the lives of people through security and financial corruption and the FORMER JALAL's media advicer comes on this site talks about impartiality of the MEDIA?? This guy must be kidding ??
