U.S. interests in Iraq at risk over Trump provocations

Iraqi and U.S. officials worry that political outrage in Baghdad over Trump's visa ban could hamper the war on IS and complicate American diplomacy and investment.

Ten days into his presidency, Donald Trump's policies and rhetoric have produced a political reaction in Baghdad that could hamper the war against the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) group and hurt American business interests in Iraq.

Iraq's Parliament passed a resolution Monday urging the Cabinet to take "reciprocal measures" in response to Trump's Jan. 27 executive order barring Iraqis from entering the U.S. While the resolution is not binding, it highlights widespread political outrage that has American diplomats and investors worried.
