Oil workers nabbed in Kirkuk – UPDATE

Kidnappings latest violence in tense area with billions of barrels of oil at stake and Arab vs. Kurd dispute over control of the territories.

The separate but seemingly connected simultaneous kidnappings of Iraqi oil workers from the streets of Kirkuk Monday morning is a reminder of the remaining threat in this oil-rich country that has seen a decrease in violence in the past year.

Mass bombings in August and October is proof there's still trouble for the Iraqi people. In the all-important oil industry - which was born in Kirkuk 80 years ago - the people and infrastructure remain at risk.
