UPDATE: Insurgents repelled after Mansuriya attack

BAQUBA - Iraqi security forces appear to have repelled an attack on the Mansuriya gas field, in Diyala province, after insurgents took over at least seven villages in the area.

According to a Diyala province security official, at 3 a.m. Thursday, unidentified insurgents began attacking and eventually took control of seven villages: Al-Showhani, Al-Uboor, Al-Mashroa, Kurd Ali, Al-Arabdha, Al-Majarir, and Al-Byter. The area has been under siege for at least three days, he said.
