The Iraqi Parliament overcame a Sadrist-led opposition Tuesday to a foreign presence in the country’s major oil outlet which means the likely return of about 100 British Navy trainers.
The legislature was unable to reach quorum in July and at the end of the month all UK forces not part of the NATO mission left the country. Iraqi and U.S. officials warned this put at risk the oil terminals from where 75 percent of Iraq’s exports head to market.
