Iraqi Finance Minister Ali Allawi will manage the oil portfolio until an oil minister is approved by Parliament, according to multiple officials close to the newly appointed government.

Mustafa al-Kadhimi, who became Iraq's prime minister along with 15 ministers in an early Thursday Parliament session, has issued an executive order adding the oil responsibility to Allawi's role. It is unclear if that order has been signed yet as of publication.
