Basra oil chief nominated as oil minister

Ihsan Ismaael, head of the Basra Oil Company, has been tapped to lead Oil Ministry pending vote in Parliament.

BASRA - Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi has nominated Ihsan Ismaael, director general of the state-run Basra Oil Company (BOC), to lead the Ministry of Oil, four weeks after a partial Cabinet was approved by Parliament.

Ismaael's nomination was communicated in nominating documents that were obtained by Iraq Oil Report and confirmed as accurate by Basra-based political officials from multiple parties.
