BAGHDAD - Iraq is coming off a record year for oil exports and plans to reach new heights in 2018, despite technical problems that have recently slowed down loading in the Basra Gulf.

As the director general of the State Oil Marketing Organization (SOMO), Alaa al-Yassiri is responsible for selling Iraq's oil and getting the best price possible.
