Japanese consortium back in Baghdad for Nassiriya

Negotiations continue for Thi Qar oil field despite ongoing delays after Japanese companies chosen over Italian and Spanish firms.

BAGHDAD - Representatives of the Japanese consortium chosen to develop the 4.4 billion barrel Nassiriya field arrived at the Iraqi Oil Ministry headquarters Sunday to continue negotiations for the field.

"We’re still in the negotiating phase," said ministry spokesman Assem Jihad. He said he doesn’t expect an agreement to be reached over the likely three days of talks.
