Attackers blow up dormant Kirkuk pipeline

Latest attack on oil infrastructure doesn’t affect oil operations, but demonstrates persistent security holes in critical crude-producing province.

KIRKUK - Unidentified attackers blew up a disused pipeline in the Dibis district of Kirkuk province early Wednesday, the latest in a string of sabotage attacks on oil infrastructure in this major oil hub.

“A planted bomb sabotaged the pipeline near Qutan village between Kirkuk and Dibis early this morning,” said Ahmed Askari, the head of the Kirkuk Provincial Council Energy Committee.
