Murad Kadhim Hassoun, a member of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's Dawa Party, said three regiments of the 38th and 10th Brigades were sent six months ago to Ninewa to secure the border with Syria, and "riot control regiments" have been sent to Anbar province after protests there began.
