Farmers vexed by low land compensation

NASSIRIYA - Farmers in Dhi Qar province have formally complained that they have received inadequate compensation when oil operators have come to work on their land.

"Landowners in areas of Ketai'a and Bidour tribes in the province of Dhi Qar have expressed dissatisfaction with compensation for their land occupied by oil corporations," said Nassiriya's mayor, Ali Hassan al-Ghadban, referring to areas in the Bat'ha District around 40 kilometers west of the provincial capital.
