Nassiriya plant to increase power

NASSIRIYA - Nassirya's thermal power plant will begin generating 630 megawatts of electricity by mid-March, as the plant's second production unit emerges from refurbishment.

"Iraqi engineers are currently conducting maintenance and rehabilitation works for the second power production unit of Nassiriya thermal power plant and will most likely finish work by mid March," said Mohammad Mayali, Electric power production manager at the plant. "Maintenance work for this unit will raise its production capacity from 90 MW to 130 MW."
