October exports jump as northern pipeline resumes

Exports via Turkey boosted Iraqi oil sales while a deadly oil depot fire had only limited impact on southern volumes.

Iraqi oil sales jumped by 164,000 barrels per day (bpd) in October as pipeline exports from the Kurdistan region came back online.

Nationwide exports averaged 3.569 million bpd, according to preliminary Oil Ministry data, up from 3.405 million bpd in September.* Exports via the northern pipeline system to Turkey's Ceyhan port averaged 185,000 bpd, after being offline for more than two years; exports from the Basra Gulf dipped slightly month-on-month, to 3.375 million bpd, down from 3.405 million bpd.
