In previous elections, the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) has so thoroughly dominated its stronghold of Dohuk province that its rivals haven't even bothered campaigning there.

But the political dynamics of Iraq's autonomous Kurdistan region have changed ahead of May 12 national elections.
