Russia looking forward to Iraqi oil development

Gazprom executive Alexander Kolomatsky spoke with Iraq Oil Report about the cost to develop the Badra oil field, which may be part in Iran, raising issues of sanctions and security.

BAGHDAD - Alexander Kolomatsky is an atypical Russian executive, especially one from the largest natural gas company in the world.

The Middle East projects director for Gazprom Neft, the oil-centric subsidiary of state-owned Gazprom, Kolomatsky is a master of remaining vague while appearing coy, mixing optimism with innocent humor during friendly exchanges with the media, even when discussing the development of an Iraqi oil field that may be connected to Iran, which could get both technically and politically complicated.
