IS attack in oil rich Dibis district

Kirkuk security forces suppress IS militants' shock suicide attack raid behind the front line near key oil fields.

KIRKUK - Militants from the so-called Islamic State (IS) group staged a night raid on the local government office in the Dibis district Tuesday, a shock attack in an assumed secure area behind front lines and close to the Kirkuk's Avana Dome and Bai Hassan oil fields.

At least six Kirkuk security members were killed in the surprise attack subsequent gun battle, and 12 were injured, a Dibis district hospital official said, according to "the preliminary death toll." Semi-official Rudaw TV reported those six were police and Peshmerga, and another four IS militants were killed in a shootout and four were killed detonating suicide vests.
