Exxon in KRG on track despite warnings, uncertainty
ExxonMobil will spud exploration wells mid-2013 including in disputed areas.

BAGHDAD - ExxonMobil is planning to begin operating in Iraq's disputed territories imminently, despite warnings from Baghdad that such activity could foment civil war.
The company's current plans call for exploration drilling to begin in the summer of 2013, according to two officials close to the company with direct knowledge of its projects. In order to meet the deadlines stipulated in Exxon's contract with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), contractors will soon begin a variety of projects, including the construction of roads and camps and the drilling of water wells.
