One week before Iraq is set to announce the winners of development contracts for six oil and two gas fields, that very attempt to boost oil production – and needed revenues – in Iraq is among the targets Oil Minister Hussain al-Shahristani must carry.

Shahristani is scheduled to go before Parliament to answer critics of the bidding contracts as well as those who put the blame on him for not increasing oil production more during his tenure.
