The Iraqi government has made a formal request via its ambassador in Tehran that Iran remove forces from an oil field in Iraqi territory, which stretches into Iran.
The incident forced Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to convene a meeting of the National Security Council Friday to discuss the occupation of a well in Missan province’s Fauqi oil field, one of a number of Iraq’s border fields, which was offered to investors in a June 30 auction.
