Bai Hassan oil field attacked

KIRKUK - A weekend attack on the Bai Hassan oil field caused minor damage but underscored how Iraq's worsening violence poses a danger to the oil sector.

Kirkuk police now believe that Bai Hassan, which is 45 kilometers northwest of Kirkuk city, was hit by mortars on Oct. 26. That assessment differs sharply from earlier reports that bombs were placed at the field.
