CNPC hires locals to protect Halfaya

<p>As the China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) gears up for the next phase of operations at its Halfaya project, the company has begun hiring and training local villagers and farmers to provide security and increase local employment.</p>

AMARA - As the China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) gears up for the next phase of operations at its Halfaya project, the company has begun hiring and training local villagers and farmers to provide security and increase local employment.

"The 93 people graduating the first training course, who are from the Halfaya area's Twerja and Bani Hashim village to protect and watch Halfaya field wells have been employed by [CNPC subsidiary] Petrochina under supervision of the Missan Oil Company and upon the recommendation of the Provincial Council," said Yahia Abid Ali, the deputy director general of the Missan Oil Company (MOC).
