Depot fire temporarily cuts nearly half of Iraqi crude exports
An explosion at the Zubair-1 depot and pumping station has led to a shut-in of around 1.5 million barrels per day of Basra Medium for export, as Iraq looks for alternatives to keep flows up in the Basra Gulf.

BASRA - A gas leak and subsequent explosion the morning of Oct. 26 at the Zubair-1 depot, which pumps Basra Medium to single point moorings (SPM) in the Basra Gulf, has been contained but up affecting up to 44% of Iraqi crude exports, which flow through that facility.
Sources including a medical official, security, and Basra Oil Company (BOC) official said one senior operations staff at the pumping station was killed, along with two HSE and one maintenance staff. At least 20 people were taken to hospital for injuries.
