Dhi Qar oil company to be added to state firms

The Iraqi Oil Minister expects to create an oil company based in the up and coming oil province of Dhi Qar.

BAGHDAD - The initialing of the Garraf oil field contract Monday is the latest in oil development in southern Iraq's Dhi Qar province, and the oil ministry soon plans to represent it with a state oil firm based in the provincial capital Nassiriya.

Garraf was awarded to Petronas with junior partner Japex to develop and the companies and ministry made an initial agreement on the contract, which is sent to the Council of Minister for approval.
