Haditha refinery director held for ransom

FALLUJAH - One month after being kidnapped on his way to the Baiji refinery, Amer Shawwal, the director of the Haditha refinery in Anbar province, is still being held for ransom.

Shawwal, another engineer, and two others believed to be a driver and security guard, were abducted on April 13 on the road connecting Baiji and Haditha at a fake checkpoint set up in an area largely controlled by the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) and other violent groups.
