AMARA - The 180 megawatt Al-Kahla power station in southern Missan province is running on associated gas for the first time, due to the completion of an associated gas capture and pipeline project at the Halfaya oil field.

The news marks the first time that an oilfield project awarded under the Ministry of Oil's second bid round has begun harnessing associated gas. Under the initial pilot phase, 40 million cubic feet per day of gas is flowing though a 24-inch pipeline from Halfaya to a gas collection unit near Kahla power plant, 21 kilometers away.
