Kirkuk fields begin to re-start

NOC is taking initial steps to bring some production at Bai Hassan and Avana Dome back online, increasing crude flows to refineries in Kurdistan.

KIRKUK - The Bai Hassan oil field and the Avana Dome of the Kirkuk field have started initial runs of production, five months after they were shut in following a federal military operation to regain control of Kirkuk.

The state-run North Oil Company (NOC) has also increased the amount of crude it is sending to refineries in the autonomous Kurdistan region - a sign that Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) are making some attempts to resolve a political impasse that has effectively stranded almost 300,000 barrels per day (bpd) of production.
