ERBIL - Iraq's autonomous Kurdistan region has confirmed the award of two oil exploration blocks to Komet Group, a subsidiary of Moldova's ASCOM.

Komet was awarded production sharing contracts for the Gwer and Hamdanya blocks - both of which lie entirely within the formal boundaries of Ninewa province - on June 6, 2013, according to a report published on Dec. 2 by the Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) Ministry of Natural Resources.
