Maersk takes stakes in Repsol blocks in KRG
<p>Denmark's Maersk Oil has acquired 40 percent stakes in two oil blocks in Kurdistan operated by Spain's Repsol, and continues to investigate further expansion in the region.</p>ERBIL - Denmark's Maersk Oil has acquired 40 percent stakes in two oil blocks in Kurdistan operated by Spain's Repsol, and continues to investigate further expansion in the region.
According to the company, the deal to take the non-operating stakes in the Qala Dze and Piramagrun blocks has been approved by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), which retains its 20 percent carried interest in both blocks.
