BAQUBA - At least some of the security personnel guarding the Mansuriya gas field fled on Friday, as insurgents continued to assert control over the broader area.

Security guards contracted to Turkey's state oil company TPAO were among the personnel to evacuate the area, according to a Turkish government official briefed on the matter. TPAO has been developing the field, which boasts 4.5 trillion cubic feet of gas reserves, along with minority partners Kogas and Kuwait Energy under a 2011 contract.
