AMARA - Iraq has inaugurated a new pipeline connecting Missan's Halfaya and Buzurgan fields to Iraq's export infrastructure in Basra - a key link that will help the province become one of Iraq's most prolific oil producers.

Missan, immediately north of Basra and on the border with Iran, is slated to produce more than 1 million bpd in four years, largely on the backs of oil fields contracted for development with two Chinese state companies. The new pipeline, which is 42 inches in diameter, has a capacity of 1 million barrels per day (bpd).
