NASSIRIYA - Mohammed Yassin Hassan al-Obaidi has been appointed acting director general of the state-run Midland Oil Company (MdOC), replacing Qaddouri Abd Salim, according to an Oct. 30 order issued by the Iraqi Cabinet, which was seen by Iraq Oil Report.
Obaidi, a mechanical engineer, is highly regarded by company staff, according to two MdOC officials. One sign of his good reputation, they said, was his past election to MdOC's board of directors through a vote of fellow employees.
"He is a very capable professional with leadership qualities who is liked by all members of staff in the company," said one of the MdOC officials.
