Kurdish firm KAR Group and Turkey's Calik Enerji have submitted bids for a 100,000 barrels per day (bpd) refinery and 300 megawatt power plant in a tender organized by Ninewa province officials.
As recently as early December, Ninewa Governor Atheel Nujaifi said the integrated project would include an oil field dedicated to the refinery, which in turn would feed the power plant. But it is not clear yet if a specific field has been chosen or if the companies would choose what is available.
