North pipeline security questioned

Iraqi and U.S. security officials say it’s not a coincidence the four recent attacks on the northern oil pipeline occurred under the watch of the 4th Iraqi Army Division.

BAGHDAD - All four bombings that shut down Iraq’s northern oil export pipeline between late October and mid-December occurred in areas under the protection of the Iraqi Army’s 4th Division, which security officials say may be a part of the problem.

It remains unclear how saboteurs are able to slip through security around the simmering hotbed of Beiji, where the four attacks took place.
