Obama misreads his Iraq war

Violence reaches twelve-month high, politics breaking down, president will need to relook at the war he’s attempting to shed.

President Obama may curse his inheritance – a crumbling economy and rising unemployment and two failed wars…and why not throw in some swine flu – but he can’t ignore it. (editor’s note: as always win/fail are terms applied to the political leaders who wage the wars, not the troops who fight it and do what they’re told)

The common refrain on the Iraq war has been the "surge" worked, Iraq’s democracy is strong, Iraqis are in for a better life.
