Q&A: Hassan Mohammed Hassan, director general of the Iraqi Drilling Company

The new leader of Iraq’s state-run well drilling firm discusses plans to expand its rig fleet and increase revenues.

After decades working his way up through the state-run Basra Oil Company and its predecessor, the South Oil Company, Hassan Mohammed Hassan has become the acting director general of the Oil Ministry’s Iraqi Drilling Company (IDC).

IDC interacts with a variety of entities in Iraq’s oil sector, supporting other state-owned firms like the Iraq Exploration Company and contracting with state-owned upstream companies and foreign companies operating projects across the country.
