Q&A: Hussain al-Shahristani and Abdul Karim Luaibi

BAGHDAD - A day after Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdistan region cut off its oil exports, Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Hussain al-Shahristani and Oil Minister Abdul Karim Luaibi launched a rhetorical salvo.

At a press conference on April 2, they accused the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) of reneging on an agreement negotiated between Luaibi and KRG Minister of Natural Resources Ashti Hawrami in January 2011.
