ISTANBUL - As the director general of the state-run Basra Oil Company (BOC), Ihsan Ismaael operates at the heart of Iraq's most important energy sector developments.

With the country racing to claim a bigger share of global oil markets, following OPEC's decision to relax production constraints, Basra fields have contributed overwhelmingly to recent production growth.
