Saleh as next KRG PM

BAGHDAD - A top Kurdistan Regional Government official, speaking on background said "it’s very likely" Barham Saleh, Iraq's deputy prime minister, "will be the next prime minister."

This follows the KRG’s July 25 regional elections and the presumed agreement between its two largest parties to split and swap key government positions. Saleh is a member of the Patriotic Union of Kuridstan, led by Iraqi President Jalal Talabani. He would replace Nechirvan Barzani, of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, led by Massoud Barzani (KRG President and Nechirvan’s uncle). Massoud Barzani will remain as President.
