Smugglers Watch

One year ago, following accusations party members were active in oil and fuel smuggling in the oil capital of Basra, the Fadhila Party requested Parliament summon all post-Saddam oil ministers and those involved in securing Iraq’s most vital resource.

The extent of oil, and to a larger extent, fuel smuggling can't be quantified, but is an active source of income for tribes, gangs and organized militias, to varying degrees connected to political parties. Accusations have been rampant in post-Saddam Iraq, but few charges brought to court.
